Union-Led Learning Projects Awarded £1.5M Over The Next 2 Years.
The awards represent the sixth round of investment in
the Scottish Union
Learning Fund (SULF).
Thirteen
projects for union-led learning were today awarded almost £1.5 million over
the next two years.
They include projects to help footballers plan for a life outside the game
and new skills for journalists.
The awards represent the sixth round of investment in the Scottish Union
Learning Fund (SULF).
Speaking at the STUC conference in Perth, Deputy Minister for Enterprise and
Lifelong Learning Allan Wilson said:
“Experts tell us that people are better at retaining new skills when they
can put them into practice and use them on a regular basis.
“That’s why developing new skills and knowledge in the workplace is
important in helping employees to learn.
“Unions have a key role to play in this area. They can encourage businesses
to provide training and ensure that employees are aware of the advantages it
could bring.
“And of course unions also have an important role in providing such
opportunities themselves and in leading workplace projects.
“I am very pleased that so many unions in Scotland are working to help their
members learn.”
