“Investment on this scale in North Ayrshire
and it’s Island communities of Arran and Cumbrae is unprecedented and demonstrates
a commitment on our part to providing better public services and improving
the quality of life for all in North Ayrshire” said new Scottish Executive
Environment Minister Allan Wilson.
“The Special Islands Needs Allowance
is to be particularly welcomed as it represents a culmination of constant
lobbying on my part to have the additional costs of delivering services
on the Islands of Arran and Cumbrae recognised by the Scottish Executive
and additional resources granted to take account of this factor ” said
Mr Wilson.
“I want to see North Ayrshire Council
provide the best services possible to my constituents and to be constantly
seeking improvements in service delivery. I am keen to focus on what those
in receipt of those services are actually interested in and that is outcomes.
”said Mr Wilson.
“The Scottish Executive will work
in partnership with local authorities to deliver high quality services
and ensure that these additional funds are used to maximum beneficial effect
for all my constituents and that those in greatest need, such as the elderly
and infirm in our communities, receive the optimum level of care and attention
it is possible to afford” said Mr Wilson.
“ I want to see North Ayrshire Council
continue it’s good work with other external agencies such as Ayrshire and
Arran Heath Board and James Watt college to provide better integrated services
and deliver the quality of service that residents of North Ayrshire, young
and old alike, should expect.” said Mr Wilson
