“While I sympathise with the residents
of Westend and their loss of amenity and raised the issue with Cunninghame
Housing Association several months ago, the response of the two housing
authorities has been exemplary in trying to resolve a difficult predicament
of conflicting interests between neighbours.”
“The Housing Association conducted
a survey of their tenants which conclusively confirmed their wish to have
the path retained. Local resident, Mrs King, also canvassed opinion of
residents in Putyan Avenue, Archibald Drive and Carsewell Court all but
one of whom supported the path’s construction.” said Mr Wilson.
“The Local Authority and Councillor
Reid have also been working on longer term plans to alleviate the loss
of amenity suffered by Westend residents and don’t deserve the condemnation
of nationalist politicians.
“ It is a flagrant breach of Parliamentary
procedure not to inform the constituency MSP of representations being made
which impact on his constituents but the nationalists have acted in this
instance as in so many others with complete contempt for the institution
of Parliament and the office of MSP,” said Mr Wilson.
“Like Frank Sweeney of Cunninghame
Housing Association I am surprised at the issue surfacing again after so
many months have elapsed and can only assume it has more to do with the
nationalist selection process which culminates this week than the long
term interests of constituents whose amenity has diminished” concluded
Mr Wilson
