As
the Scottish Parliament returns for a second term local Labour MSP Allan
Wilson has highlighted
Labour's priorities in the on going coalition negotiations currently
underway with the Liberal
Democrats.
Allan Wilson said: "I am honoured to have been given the privilege of
serving Cunninghame North for
the next four years and I am committed to working hard for the people of
Cunninghame North. I believe
the priorities set out by Labour over the course of the election campaign
demonstrate Labour's
determination to work to improve our local communities. Labour listened to
local people during the
campaign and we have made clear that in the discussions with the Liberal
Democrats we will put the
local people's priorities first.
"We will tackle problems of anti social behaviour with the introduction of
an Anti Social Behaviour
Bill. We will also fight for court reform, and the creation of a national
correction agency to tackle
criminal activity and cut re-offending", said Mr Wilson.
"On Education we will introduce reform to drive up standards starting with a
commitment to cut the
class sizes in the early years of secondary. And on health we will introduce
reform to drive down
waiting times starting with the abolition of NHS Trusts and devolution of
responsibility to the front
line".
"Labour are also committed to taking action to grow the Scottish economy.
With 30,000 modern
apprenticeships, enterprise education in all our schools and a new business
start up fund. We will
introduce a national programme of environmental improvements to clean up
land, cut waste and improve
green space. And we will introduce Nationwide free bus travel for
pensioners, and for the first time
national concessionary travel on bus and rail for all young Scots".
Mr Wilson concluded: "I believe these priorities reflect the priorities of
people cross Cunninghame
North. Labour must spend the next four years in the Scottish Parliament
proving that devolution makes
a difference across our land. We will focus relentlessly on the people's
priorities. So we want a
partnership agreement that will deliver a government that is on the side of
decent, hard working
Scottish families". |
