| Scottish Labour has pledged to extend
the successful free local bus scheme nationwide if returned to power after
the Scottish elections. The local scheme has been hugely popular
with pensioners and extending it to a national scheme is the next logical
step.
Labour’s Allan Wilson said:
“Free local off peak bus travel for
all pensioners has been one of our best achievements in the Scottish Parliament.
Having seen the real difference it has made to people’s lives in Strathclyde,
we believe the right thing to do is to extend the scheme to allow free
travel right across the country. I’m sure it will be welcomed by every
older person in North Ayrshire and beyond.” |
