SNP "Unfit to Govern" Call For Campbell Martin to Step Down - 10th May 2004

Labour this week repeated their call on Campbell Martin to step down as a "list" MSP following his suspension.

Allan Wilson, MSP for Cunninghame North, said: "He doesn't have a leg to stand on. Nobody voted for him as an individual but only for the SNP list. Since they have now disowned him, he doesn't have a shred of legitimacy.”

"The one thing that Mr Martin has got right is that the SNP under John Swinney are a lost cause and "unfit to govern Scotland". I agree and people who voted for the SNP in the past should take him at his word."

Brian Wilson MP said: "The one absolute certainty about Mr Martin is that he doesn't learn from his mistakes. The SNP executive have only delayed by six months the point at which they will have to get rid of him.”

"Otherwise he will continue to embarrass them nationally, just as he has done locally for so long."
