Victorious Team Wins
£5,000 For Macmillan Cancer Care

Local MSP
Allan Wilson was a member of the Scottish Parliament's victorious Charity
Shield winning team in August at the Cardiff. The Scots team beat their
counterparts from the Westminster Parliament and the Welsh and Northern
Ireland Assemblies to lift the trophy and £5000 donated by sponsors
McDonalds for the Charity of their choice.
The Parliamentarians chose Macmillan Cancer Care Nurses and the pictures
shows them being presented with the Charity Shield Trophy by First minister
Jack McConnell at a presentation by McDonalds at the Scottish parliament,
with the cheque for £5,000 for the charity being presented to McMillan
Cancer Care by team boss' and Scotland footballing legend Kenny Dalgleish.
In
addition, MSP’s could win ten footballs from McDonalds for local schools by
keeping the ball in the air for ten successive kicks and Allan and his son
Craig managed to secure two sets of footballs for each of Beith and Dalry
Primary schools, with Craig recording the biggest score overall of the
hundreds of participants on the day.
"I was pleased to be able to play my part in the Scottish Parliament team's
success but the icing on the cake was winning the £5,000 for Macmillan
Cancer Care. I know that cash and the footballs for the local schools will
be put to good use" said Allan. (See photo gallery for full sized
