Local MSP Allan Wilson
praised the record of Saltcoats based Galloway Training when he opened their
new premises in Hamilton Street.
“The reason why Galloway Training have prospered when other training
providers have struggled is due to their people orientated approach and the
dedication of a skilled and professional staff” said Mr Wilson.
“Changes in the local labour market brought about by a decline in
traditional manufacturing industry and an increase in new employment
opportunities in the service sector, particularly for women, reinforce the
importance of skills training in the area” said Mr Wilson.
“Galloway Training perform a vital function in helping people access the
skills training they need to take advantage of these increased employment
opportunities and find work that they would otherwise not be qualified for”.
“The fact that they can tailor training packages to meet individual need is
vital in equipping people, in otherwise disadvantaged circumstances with the
competitive edge they need to secure employment in their chosen field” said
Mr Wilson.
“The expansion of their business in Saltcoats will enable them to extend
their expertise to benefit people in other parts of Ayrshire and provide
further employment opportunity in the vicinity”.
“The success of Galloway Training is testimony to the hard work of Chairman
Father Lynch and his voluntary board of local residents and augurs well for
the future of skills training in the three towns and beyond,” concluded Mr
Wilson.
