The Stag Assessment
has to consider local traffic management solutions.
AI will be
meeting their representatives to discuss any
issues arising from the conclusion of the Part 1 Appraisal.

Local MSP Allan Wilson has moved quickly to reassure the Dalry business
community that their views will be taken into consideration during the
current Options Appraisal process for the A737 Stag Assessment.
“I had already written to the Dalry Business Club to assure them that I
would take account of their views in my own consideration of the findings of
the Stag Assessment as they emerge prior to the Herald’s report and I will
be meeting their representatives to discuss any issues arising from the
conclusion of the Part 1 Appraisal” said Mr Wilson.
“It is encouraging that local businesses are engaged with the process and
appreciative of the strategic significance of the study to the future
economic development of the town as well as its implications for better
traffic management in the town” said Mr Wilson.
“As is well known I share the view of Dalry Community Council among others
that the construction of a by pass of Dalry would alleviate many current
problems of traffic management in the town, but as Phase 1 of the study
demonstrated, there is a considerable volume of traffic which leaves the
A737 at Dalry “
“Consequently, the Stag Assessment has to consider local traffic management
solutions for those vehicles as well as hopefully demonstrating the case for
an eastern by pass from Hillend to Highfield, incorporated as option 4 of
the Part 1 Appraisal” said Mr Wilson.
“The Part 1 Appraisal, now concluded, identified options (or interventions)
to take forward to a more detailed assessment during Part 2, now underway,
and that process will not conclude until 7th
October at which point the consultants will make their report to the
Scottish Executive on its implications for national strategic transport
policy. North Ayrshire Council will then have to consider how this would
affect local traffic management and assess any necessary changes thereafter“
said Mr Wilson.
“I would therefore encourage everyone in Dalry to acquaint themselves with
the options under discussion and let Councillor John Reid or myself know of
any concerns or otherwise they might have over the options being considered
as part of this process as it is critical to the case for the by pass that
it has the support of the wider community of Dalry” concluded Mr Wilson.
