Local Group
Bid For Cash to Fight Drugs
North Ayrshire projects can apply for
up to £50,000 to help them set up or
run a project which will aid the fight
against drugs in their community.

Allan Wilson MSP is encouraging local groups to submit bids from the
Scottish Executive’s Drugs Challenge Fund
for vital cash to aid their fight against drugs in local communities across
North Ayrshire.
“Protecting local communities from the blight of drugs is a key priority for
the Scottish Executive and this £500,000 cash boost is the ideal opportunity
for local groups to access the necessary resource to tackle drug problems
locally and address local needs.” said Mr Wilson.
“The overall objective of the funding is to help make a real difference in
tackling the serious problem of drug misuse in Scotland and I hope projects
which unite local communities and businesses in the fight against drugs will
submit a strong winning bid for their share of the cash”
“North Ayrshire projects can apply for up to £50,000 to help them set up or
run a project which will aid the fight against drugs in their community.
“Drugs misuse in our communities can be a complex issue to tackle but I
would be happy to support any appropriate high-quality local bids for some
of this cash to come to North Ayrshire” said Mr Wilson.
The additional funding was also welcomed by of Liz McCallum and Ann Hainey
of Garnock Addiction Family Foundation (GAFF).
“This additional funding is very welcome. It is precisely the type of help
essential to small local groups who do good work in the fight against drug
addiction locally but most of the time finds it a struggle to survive.”
“We have been discussing possible avenues of funding with Mr Wilson and we
are grateful to the Scottish Executive for this chance to apply to them for
support funding and we hope to bring forward a bid with Allan’s backing
“said Liz McCallum of GAFF.
