Rail
passenger numbers are now growing across Scotland - 21 per cent since 2003
New fund worth over £20 million aimed at refurbishing
trains and improving stations welcomed by local MSP Allan Wilson.

New CCTV cameras at Ardrossan Town and Harbour stations and additional
parking at Glengarnock and twenty (two car) units each receiving new
seating, improved lighting and furnishings, new table tops, carpeting
throughout, and inclusion of wheelchair space are some of the local benefits
of a new fund worth over £20 million aimed at refurbishing trains and
improving stations welcomed by local MSP Allan Wilson.
"This investment will directly improve passengers' travel experience through
a number of enhancements to station facilities, train refurbishments,
security and information provision” said Mr Wilson.
"Rail passenger numbers are now growing across Scotland - 21 per cent since
2003 - and I want to improve the public transport experience for travellers
and provide comfortable, high quality journeys through small, targeted local
projects, improving both our trains and our stations.”
"This new fund complements other investments we are already making such as
rail links to airports, new rail lines and improvements to rail services
including, improved rolling stock and information provision.“
“As well as the additional investment at Ardrossan and Glengarnock those
stations without CCTV help points will have them installed to improve
personal safety provision and encourage more people to choose rail travel as
their preferred mode of transport."
“There is still some way to go to raise standards to the levels that I wish
to see but this additional investment is a step in the right direction”
concluded Mr Wilson.
