Community
radio was always at the heart of the original Radio City concept.
GVFM can be picked up as far a field as Clydebank and
Bearsden to the north and Irvine to the south and the play list contains
music and chat to
suit all tastes.

Local MSP, Allan Wilson ,
is encouraging radio listeners to tune in to GVFM 87.7 while the community
station is on the air, broadcasting from Radio City, Kilbirnie.
Mr Wilson also paid tribute to pharmaceutical company Pfizer ltd who
generously acceded to his request to fund the station's operation, donating
£27,000 to the project.
Mr Wilson, who was interviewed live on the first day's broadcasting, said:
Community radio was always at the heart of the original Radio City concept
and it is encouraging to see GVFM hitting the airwaves after several months
of preparation.
"Congratulations are due to all those volunteers who have given their time
and expertise to make the first two week's broadcasting such an enormous
success. GVFM can be picked up as far a field as Clydebank and Bearsden to
the north and Irvine to the south and the play list contains music and chat
to suit all tastes."
Mr Wilson added: "It is a tremendous showcase for local talent and everyone
who has taken to the airwaves has done so with enthusiasm and their
commitment to GVFM has shown through in their broadcasts".
The Cunninghame North MSP said: "Thanks are also due to Pfizer Ltd without
whose financial support the station would not have got off the ground. The
health messages which are broadcast at regular intervals mean that important
public information on healthy living reach a much wider audience and assist
us to tackle health inequalities in the area.
"As all the programmes are being recorded so there will also be a valuable
record of the Valley's social history retained for posterity and hopefully
future generations will be able to look back at the original recordings and
trace the birth of broadcasting in the Valley to this project."
