National
voluntary groups will share more than £681,000.
The Workers Educational Association will receive the
largest proportion of the funding allocation; £275,145.

Further funding for
national adult learning organisations operating in Scotland was announced
today by Deputy Minister for Enterprise Allan Wilson.
National voluntary groups will share more than £681,000 to help maintain
their Scottish headquarters and train staff. Organisations selected to
receive the awards include, Learning Link Scotland, Dyslexia Scotland, Skill
Scotland, Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) and Scottish Women’s Rural
Institutes. The Workers Educational Association will receive the largest
proportion of the funding allocation; £275,145.
Commenting on the funding, Wilson said: "All these organisations play an
important role in taking adult learning into the community where so much
progress is being made in improving numeracy and literacy rates.
"I am pleased, once again, to be able to fund so many organisations to help
with the cost of running their headquarters and training their staff to
ensure that more of our communities can benefit from this progress..
"Both are vital to help everyone fulfil their potential, overcome obstacles
to employment and a return to learning, and make such a positive
contribution to improving Scotland's economy, health and wellbeing."
