Ayrshire Reaches 30.4 %
Recycling Of Its Waste.
MSP Allan Wilson to urges residents to share ideas on
what more can be done to recycle in North Ayrshire.

Ayrshire recycled 30.4% of its waste between last July and September
prompting local MSP Allan Wilson to
urge residents to share ideas on what more can be done to recycle in North
Ayrshire.
The Cunninghame North MSP says North Ayrshire Council has already hit the
Scottish Executive’s target to recycle at least 25% of its waste by 2006 –
but wants local residents to continue to do more to further improve North
Ayrshire’s recycling rate and minimise household waste.
Despite North Ayrshire Council and Scotland reaching its 25% target, the
Scottish Executive is launching a consultation to seek local views on what
more can be done to reduce the waste we produce.
Speaking about the consultation, Allan Wilson MSP said:
“The fact that North Ayrshire Council reached its 25% target last year is
thanks to the commitment of many North Ayrshire residents who consistently
recycled much of their household waste.”
“Local residents should continue to do this for the good of our environment,
but it is important that we now move one step further and I would urge
residents who have a view about how we recycle our waste or have ideas on
how to improve and increase our recycling to write to me at my constituency
office.”
